Kienzen, 17-years-old - Kienzen had been selected for a scholarship to attend a good school in Beijing when he became blind at age 9 because of a lack of hygiene. He was hidden at home until 1998, when he was found and brought into the project—in fact, he was one of the first students who joined the self-integration program in the school in Medrogongkar. Despite his challenge, Kienzen has become a proud and self confident young man. (as reported by his teacher)
