Stefani Jackenthal

Reporting from inside the action for print, radio and TV makes me buzz.  It’s what’s driven my career as an adventure journalist, on-air correspondent, in-action shooter and field producer – a jack of multimedia and seeker of unique explorations.

I’ve seen the guts of the steamy Borneo jungle, felt the biting wind on the peak of Ecuador’s El Cotapaxi, chased water buffalo in Xichang, China, whitewater rafted down category four rapids in Nepal and lost my cookies on the choppy China Sea; this last, can be caught in my report that recently aired on NPR’s “Weekend Edition Saturday.”  Most of all, I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to experience a quilt of cultures peppering our globe; along the way, meeting fascinating folks with stories to share.

Last September, I raced alongside Erik W. and his team No Boundaries for nearly 10-days during Subaru Primal Quest adventure race, filming and interviewing them with a handheld mini-DV for the 2-hour television special that aired on CBS Sports in January, 2004.  I have shot a broad array of international athletic events for national and international broadcast, offering viewers an insider look at the action; often making appearances as a commentator, guest or featured athlete.  I regularly contribute to magazines and newspapers worldwide and wrote the much anticipated The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Rock Climbing (Alpha Books/Macmillan). I love and live in NYC.
