My name is Steven Mace. I am an 11th grader at Denver Academy. I have always enjoyed being outdoors ice climbing in Ouray, rock climbing where ever I can, snowboarding, running with my cross country team, hiking and things of that nature. I have climbed many of the 14 thousand foot peaks in Colorado. I have known Erik and most of the team since their 2001 Everest expedition, which my father (Charley Mace) was a part of. During the expedition, I'll be working on my own school work and sending back curriculum to other schools through our expedition web site. This will allow other kids to follow along and have an educational experience. My role on this trip will be to help guide the kids on the approach, coordinate evening activities, assist with the website, contribute to the school curriculum, and function as a back up for any member of the team who might need help. Being a 16 year old, and the youngest member of the American team, I am in a in a unique position to relate to the Tibetan teens. And I am stoked to be a part of this very exciting trip.
