Tashi Pasang, 16-years-old - Born in a village 1000km away, Tashi came to Lhasa when he was 11-years-old. He was brought by his father, who swapped him for a sighted street child. Tashi survived one winter alone on the streets, and had to steal and beg to survive. He was beaten up by other street children and the police. Tashi joined the project in 1999, and became a trained medical massage therapist and physiotherapist. He has a strong character, and speaks fluent Chinese and Tibetan, and a limited amount of English. (as reported by his teacher)

In Tashi Pasang's own words (directly translated): My name is Tashi Pasang. I come from Sichuan. When we climb the mountain we climb for the blind. Besides I like climbing mountains. When I was small I climbed a lot. I hope i can climb up this mountain. I have this climbing chance and therefore I am very happy. Paul and Sabriye help me a lot i will never forget this. And if there is another chance to climb they should not forget about me. I have a great desire to climb on the top of this mountain. Since Paul and Sabriye gave me this good chance I don't want to loose it.

Thank you and also thank to Sabriye and Paul.

I am very happy.
