Tendsin, 15-years-old - Tendsin was very well accepted in his home village; the head of the village gave him the responsibility to herd the yaks, which greatly increased his self confidence and self esteem. Tendsin was the first child to join the project in 1998, and for two years he followed the preparatory school program. Afterwards he joined Tashi Pasang in the medical massage/physiotherapy training program. Tenzin speaks fluent Chinese and Tibetan, and his English is strong. (as reported by his teacher)

In Tendsin's own words (directly translated): I come from QuQu. Why I want to climb up this mountain? First: I want to get stronger. Second: when I climb up the mountain I can see a lot of things.  I can't see but when I climb on the top I feel I can see a lot. Third: I am a medical massage student. Therefore I am interested  to experience how foreigners can adjust to high altitude. And fourth: I come from the countryside and therefore I like to climb mountains. And when I climb the mountain I could become famous. and I can make my body strong. This is my biggest wish.
