The first phase of this project will occur from May 23 - June 10, 2004 where the team will train the Tibetan students. During the summer the students will practice their new skills. From September 23 to October 23 the team will return to lead the students on a climb of a Lhakpa Ri 23,000 foot peak. Lhakpa Ri is just north of Mt. Everest and is one of the most spectacular peaks in Tibet.

Spring 2004 Schedule

Wednesday May 26: Lhasa, Tibet. Introductions, observe school, team dinner. Altitude: 3650 meters Thursday May 27: Lhasa. Observe school; distribute clothing, small trek. Friday May 28: Lhasa. Rock Climb at Sera Monastery Cliffs, pre-trek preparation, and afternoon drive to hot springs at Yangbajin or Damzhung for acclimatization. Altitude: 4250 meters. Saturday May 29: Yangbajin. Acclimatization. Altitude: 4250 meters. Sunday May 30: Lake Namtso. Drive to Lake Namtso, Tashi Do. Altitude: 4700 + meters. Monday May 31: Trek. Tuesday June 1: Trek. Wednesday June 2: Trek. Thursday June 3: Trek. Friday June 4: Walk to snow practice site. Altitude 5500+ meters. Saturday June 5: Snow Practice. Sunday June 6: Walk out and return to Lhasa in evening. Monday June 7: Farewells, spare day for delays. Tuesday June 8: Americans depart Lhasa for United States. Wednesday June 9: American portion of Team arrives back in the U.S.
